Can you share with us how stringent is the process for obtaining certification from SGBC? What specific steps or criteria must products meet in achieving this certification?

Under SGBP Certification Scheme, sealants fall under “Architectural” product category. In order to provide a comfortable indoor environment, products must satisfy material toxicity levels to qualify for certification.

Achieving the Singapore Green Building Product (SGBP) certification is a rigorous process that evaluates a product’s sustainability performance, from raw material sourcing to end-of-life. Products are evaluated against strict criteria such as environmental impact, VOC emissions, carbon footprint reduction, and innovative features. Our sealants undergo various mandatory lab testing and third-party verification to ensure they align with the highest standards of sustainability and efficiency.

Firstly, Tremco’s low carbon sealants are produced and manufactured in our Tremco facilities under stringent compliance with ISO9001:2015 and ISO14000. Our sealants are currently produced in our manufacturing plant in Korea and were previously certified by the Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute for their low carbon footprint, providing an additional layer of transparency and credibility.
