Nullifire SC902

A Fast Track Intumescent Coating for Protection of Structural Steel Against Fire Exposure

Nullifire SC902 is a one-coat, low VOC, high-build, patented intumescent coating solution. It is fast-curing, with an early weather resistance to be shower-proof within 1 hour, and is suitable for both on-site and off-site applications.

SC902 can be applied at lower temperatures and in high humidity as compared to conventional water-based fire protection. The system allows for minimal surface preparation and can be applied to imperfect / rusty areas of steel.

Basic Uses

Provides a fire rating of up to 120 minutes for:

  • Universal Beams
  • Universal Columns
  • Structural Tees
  • Angles
  • Channels
  • Hollow Sections (rectangular and circular)

FAQ
  • What is the difference between Epoxy Intumescent and Hybrid Intumescent?
Epoxy intumescent are known as “thick film” intumescent and are primarily used for hydrocarbon (Oil and Gas) fires. Multiple applications are needed to achieve a thick film coat. SC902 is a hybrid intumescent it is used for cellulosic fire protection and considered “thin film”, allowing a single layer of up to 5mm to be applied, thus saving construction time.
  • What procedures are considered for re-coating in the event of superficial damage occurring?
There is a section on “Repairs” in our Applications Manual. When there is an area that has suffered mechanical damage, we would cut around that area, clean it and re-apply SC902 which will bond well with the existing material. Contact us for a copy of the Applications Manual
  • Which Passive or Active fire protection method would be more effective for steel structured building?
Both Passive and Active fire protection is required in a building. One does not exclude the other as they serve different purposes in a building.
  • Can SC902’s finish be smooth as per the Architect’s requirement?
Hybrid intumescent coatings, like any other paint, will have a slight orange peel appearance. However, it is possible to sand it down to an – almost – smooth finish. Care must be taken that, if a topcoat is applied, the finish might change. We can also match architect’s requirement for colours depending on the manufacturers of the PU topcoat.
