Looking back on the accomplishments of 2024, we take great pride in celebrating a year defined by growth, innovation and resilience. Here is a recap of our milestones throughout 2024.
Grand Opening of Asia’s State-of-the-Art Manufacturing Plant
Spanning 217,800 square feet, this new plant is 3.5 times larger than our previous plant. From the day of inauguration to date, automation is the main driver of efficiency. The plant’s integration of advanced machinery, including automated powder manufacturing systems and robotic palletizers has significantly enhanced productivity. This is evidenced by liquid production capacity that doubled to 16 million liters while the powder production increased sevenfold to 27,000 metric tonnes annually.
In the second half of the year, we also welcomed the Carboline line of commercial and industrial fireproofing products into our big family. The plant, situated in Johor state (in the southern part of Peninsular Malaysia), began official production in October. The plant is now supporting exports to other countries to meet growing regional demands while creating local job opportunities.
We are also excited to have another new member joining us – Stonhard, a global leader in high-performance seamless epoxy and urethane flooring, wall, and lining systems. Stonhard projects are gaining traction in the region and discussions are underway to manufacture Stonhard flooring solutions at the Serendah plant.
Serendah Plant Receives ISO Certifications!
We are proud to announce that our Serendah plant has officially been awarded the prestigious ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Safety and Health Management System) certifications effective 24th December 2024. While a few Opportunities for Improvement (OFI) were identified, these will be addressed to further strengthen our systems.
Achieving ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 positions us for numerous benefits, including eligibility for Green Label Certifications from the Singapore Environment Council (SEC), improved regulatory compliance, enhanced environmental performance, and a competitive edge through better brand image and market opportunities. These certifications also demonstrate our commitment to sustainability and a safe work environment.
New Product Formulation
The manufacturing of Vulkem NEM Plus in Australia marks a significant milestone as we localize the formulation previously imported from Tremco North America for over a decade. The new, non-DG formulation (non-dangerous goods) eliminates hazardous classification, thus simplifies freight logistics and more importantly, it ensures safer and more cost-efficient storage options. The Vulkem NEM Plus is now packaged in easy-to-open ring lock lids and low-VOC 15-litre pails for convenient on-site transport.
Meanwhile, the new formulation for Multithane X combines three product SKUs into a single, versatile solution. It features a one-coat application that is low VOC and classified as non-dangerous goods (non-DG), ensuring safety and environmental compliance. The improved spread rate accelerates construction timelines, saving time and effort for the customers.
Exhibitions Across the Region
Starting with Korea Build in February, we engaged with industry professionals and highlighted our latest product innovations. Events like Secutech Taiwan and CONEX Philippines in April allowed us to emphasize fire protection and construction solutions, while our presence at ARCHIDEX in July and the Zak World of Façades Conference in August, both taking place in Kuala Lumpur, served as platforms to display our expertise in architectural and façade solutions. September was marked by a fireproofing talk at PIFPO NatCon in the Philippines and a webinar with Malaysia's Public Works Department, fostering technical collaboration.
October saw our team at BCI Equinox Singapore, fostering partnerships and brand awareness to a diverse audience, while in November, we conducted a Lunch and Learn session on the topic related to waterproofing and roofing challenges and solutions in Kuala Lumpur. Finally, the year concluded with the International Construction Industry Expo in Cambodia in December, reinforcing our presence in emerging markets. These events collectively aligned with our mission to connect with industry professionals, showcasing product innovations, and expanding our market presence.
Building a Sustainable Future
Inspired by Earth Day, we implemented impactful initiatives across the region. In Singapore, we introduced reusable bags to reduce plastic waste. In Korea, energy-efficient systems were integrated into our operations, and in Australia, we supported tree-planting programs to promote reforestation. These efforts reflect our dedication to reducing waste, conserving resources, and fostering a greener future.
We are also delighted to receive the prestigious Singapore Green Building Product (SGBP) certification, with TREMguard LLM, our membrane sheet waterproofing solution, achieving the highest 4-tick rating.
Additionally, our flooring solutions, Flowshield SL and Deckshield UV (WB), have been certified with an esteemed 4-star rating, while Deckshield SF and Deckshield Finish proudly hold a 3-star rating.
A Year of Progress and Promise
Our participation in industry events and sustainability initiatives as well as meaningful engagement with stakeholders further highlighted our role as a trusted leader and a responsible corporate citizen.
As we look forward to 2025, we are confident that the momentum we’ve built this year will propel us to greater heights.
