After months of preparations, the first batch of Nullifire SC902 has been successfully produced for sale in the Tremco CPG Malaysia manufacturing plant. Despite delays brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, Tremco CPG Malaysia was granted approval on 17 October by UK-based fire testing laboratory, Exova Warringtonfire, to begin production of SC902 in the Malaysian manufacturing plant.
Nullifire SC902 is a fast-track, low VOC, high-build, hybrid intumescent coating based on patented technology for on-site and offsite application. The one coat application provides fast cure and effective structural fire protection for steelwork, resulting in a fire rating of up to 120 minutes, tested to British as well as European fire standards.
This is the first time since its inception seven years ago that Nullifire SC902 has been produced outside of the UK and will become a significant milestone for the brand in its expansion within the Asia Pacific market. An order of 820 kits was successfully produced for an agent in Japan and is due for delivery at the end of January 2021.
The production of SC902 in Malaysia required the company to invest in new state-of-the-art, purpose-built mixing equipment and semi-automated packaging system to speed up production while ensuring that each batch of products is of the highest quality and consistency. Depending on production schedules, the new equipment can manufacture up to 400 kits per day.
Miki Pavlovic, Business Development Director - Fire Protection Asia, explains, “With the capability to successfully produce Nullifire SC902 in Malaysia, Tremco Construction Products Group APAC is now able to offer our intumescent coating system with reduced lead times to all our agents in Asia Pacific. This will then allow them to schedule their projects better knowing the material can arrive in a matter of days or weeks.”
